Health and excercise

June 21st, 2009 by Talon @ 6:14 pm - Filed under: Life, the Universe, and Everything

So the recent project I’ve most recently decided to take on is my health and well-being.  I’ve recently joined a program called the Fitness Game. It’s a program that let’s you work out any way that you want to, and use any health diet that you want - so it’s great for me!

Thus far I’ve begun working out a gym that offers the P90X workout routine, and it’s really doing a number on me. This first week has felt pretty rough, but it’s all to be expected, and reminds me a bit of high school and how I used to work out for wrestling and football. I think what I’m most looking forward to is just looking really great in 12 weeks and having energy and life back in my body. So I’ve committed to it and still working out all the details.

In a country where obesity is begining to take over and health issues are going to become the next economic disaster, I think everyone should take a look at this fundamental part of life.  Eat right, excercise more. The only one who’ll suffer in the end with that body you’ve made, is you. Get moving! :-)

A time for mojitos

May 28th, 2009 by Talon @ 4:10 pm - Filed under: Life, the Universe, and Everything

That title is a play on words for a sci-fi book I read as a teenager - “A time for Dragons”. Anyhow, summer looks like it’s coming given the nice spring we’re experiencing, and that means patio time with mojitos :-)

I’m also finding it a great way to study as I’ve taken up programming for the iPhone in my part-time.  Ultimately I’ll be writing applications and using that as a means of income - we’re also planning on selling our services to people who want to be in on the iPhone concept, and once we’re established developers, we can really make an impact on people’s businesses and lives.  All fun and games :-)

Well, back to the books!  Have a great spring everyone!

If you ever…

April 22nd, 2009 by Talon @ 8:24 pm - Filed under: Life, the Universe, and Everything

I went to Dazzle tonight to see a friend sing a little jazz tonight - Whoa! I had no idea that Jessica is this good! This gal has class, beauty, and such a sultry voice :-)

So if you keep your eye on the local music scene here in Denver, I highly recommend you see this extraordinary woman perform!

That’s your TastyAlmond for today!

Spring Snow

March 26th, 2009 by Talon @ 4:30 pm - Filed under: Life, the Universe, and Everything

Sitting here in the house today - not working - due to what people think to be an excess of snow.  The mall is closed, so that means my store is closed and I’m spending the day goofing off. So that’s the news in Denver.

I ordered a hand skeleton from an anatomical supplier so that I can do some more work on robotics and prosthetics.  It’s been a while since I’ve worked on such a project, and I’ve been greatly annoyed and disappointed by all the press that’s being given to projects that are behind the times.  The technology has existed for decades, and yet here we are with primitive machines barely passable for a human hand.

Well, it’s time I’m getting back to my play time.  If you have sunshine where you are, enjoy it.  For those of you who have snow, well, enjoy that too!

The Success Seminar

February 25th, 2009 by Talon @ 10:30 am - Filed under: Life, the Universe, and Everything

Well, I’m sitting here looking at the homework I am supposed to do for the Success Seminar I started taking on Monday - we are to write down how we see ourselves in the world of success, account for our successes and/or lack of success in life, and then finally rate our life on a scale of 1-10.

This seems like quite a lot of work, but really it’s just a summation of what’s been going on all my life.  A chance to look at things, and actually get my thoughts about my view of success.  One of the things I want to get out of doing this seminar is breaking through the idea of “that’s just the way it is” and how that permeates throughout all aspects of my life and how it goes. That idea is like my default explanation for why I’m not a millionaire, or married with kids, able to afford a house, or even just a car.  It’s like I got dealt the wrong cards in life, and I’m at the mercy of fate, and as we all know fate is not kind.

So there’s owning up to  my life and being responsible for having it go the way that it went - nobody else was there to live it but me, so it’s all on me in that respect and I don’t have the right to blame or fault anyone else.  My free will is what I’ve got, and I’ve used it to get exactly where I am today.

Now is the time for the journey. The adventure that lies ahead is looking honestly, and maybe painfully, at the facts at hand and acting upon them. So I’ll be looking at what it is that creates “success” in the world of me and looking forward to a new future.
